
Chrissi island is situated 8 miles south from the southest European town, Ierapetra. The sea of Chrissi is the Mediterranean’s Libyan Sea.
On the north side of the island there is a small bar. Northwest is the lighthouse and northeast a single home for the 3 permanent residents of the island so far. South there is a small tavern and the orthodox church of Agios Nikolaos.
The visitor, reaching Chrissi, will feel the absolute freedom and tranquility of the unspoiled nature surrounded by cedar trees, golden sand and turquoise waters.

Chrissi is protected by the Natura 2000 program as “an area of intense natural beauty,” and is also designated as a wildlife sanctuary. The island hosts the largest natural forest of Lebanese cedar in Europe. The majority of trees have an average age of 200 years and an average height of 7 meters, some trees are over 300 years old and 10 meters tall. The density is about 28 trees per hectare.
